Amphetamines which caffeine, cocaine and nicotine are in a class of drugs that act on the cantral nervous system, called usually psychomotor stimulants, which causes excitement and euphoria, reduce fatigue and increase motor activity. So similarly the amphetamine sample and clinical neurological affects similar to those of cocaine these drugs have two side.
The downside is that the abuse of consuption and production in several regions of the united states of america produces situations like:
  • Over 54% of people arrested for speeding in hawaii tasted positive for methanphetamine in 2002.
  • In the first six montsh of 2003, over 56% of admissions for drug abuse treatment in hawaii was for abuse methamphetamine.
  • Since one of the most common roustes of administration is through syringe, users of these drugs are more vulnerable to infectious diseases such as hepatitis and AIDS. A the good news is that witing the CNS stimulant affects of amphetamine and its derivatives have led to its use in therapy of depression, hyperactivity in children, narcolepsy and control of apetite. However, there are factors that limit its use as are the development of tolerance to euphoric effects and chronic treatment anorexics.
