DISINFECTANTS CREATE ANTIBIOTIC-RESISTANT BACTERIA.

Disinfectants can make bactera resistant not only to these products but also to antibiotics, according to a study by irish researchers, which has implications for hospital infection control.
scientists at the national university of ireland in GALAWAY came to this conclusion after adding increasing amounts of disifectant in laboratory cultures of pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacterium responsible for many infections in hospital.
according to their study, the bacteria adapted to survive the disinfectant and also their DNA mutated to make it resistant to antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, althougn not having been exposed to these drugs.
disinfectans are used to clean various surface in hospitals to prevent bacterial growth.
